Name: FIAT Palio Adventure, Weekend Versions: 1.6L Petrol, 1.7Diesel In Production till: Body type: Stationwagon/Estate FIAT Launched the Stationwagon versions of its car Palio by name of Palio Weekend and Palio Adventure. Both the cars looks almost the same but are designed for different purpose. As the name suggests weekend is for the weekend family hauls where as the Adventure is for those who like to get a bit off the road (provided higher ground clearance). The FIAT’s are known for their build quality and Palio exudes the same, build on FIAT’s 178 world car platform same as the Palio. Palio Weekend and Adventure uses wishbone suspension with constant rate springs up front and has semi independent rear suspension with progressive rate springs. Interiors of both the cars are identical and are airy and spacious giving the hint of being in a car of a segment upwards, even the seats in front and rear feels upmarket. ABS and Airbags as standard in Adventure but provided as an optional package in the Weekend. 1.6 on the other hand produces a healthy 100bhp and if filled with torque, the 1.6 motor makes you feel that there is always some power in reserve, right up till the top end you won’t feel the slightest lack of grunt. Other stationwagons in the segment are quicker providing less weight. Weekend and Adventure both are a brilliant handler, they makes you feel confident around the corners and planted on high speeds. Overall both the cars are very good but under rated; lack of awareness amongst the people of India is probably one of the biggest reasons of FIAT’s not being popular in India. Both the cars are available in the used car market for as low as INR1.25lakh and the price can go up to 2.5 lakhs. Spare parts shouldn’t be a matter of concern and TATA service also takes care of all the FIAT cars. So go ahead, go get yourself an Italian.
