Chevrolet Spark is a good car, but only if you want to keep it for less than 3 years. It is comfortable, good looking, and has a silent cabin. But all this comes at a steep price. Service/Spare part prices are exorbitant when compared to Maruti/Hyundai vehicles of similar price range. Irrespective of what is shown on website, anything not mentioned there costs a fortune. For example, pair of fog lamps with fitting costs Rs. 4500. AC Condenser costs 6000. A simple wheel alignment and balancing job will set you off by 1000 rupees. I've driven the car for just 6500 km, but have already visited workshop 5 times for various problems in 5 months. GM believes in selling and forgetting. After sales is practically non existent, and the company is slow to do any repairs under warranty. So you will be expected to leave car with them for days for any minor repair. Spark inherits the poor anti rusting protection from Matiz. Exhaust pipe has already started rusting in my 5 month old car, and I've observed rust in sharp under body parts. It is only a matter of time that the body paint will start bubbling. AC of spark gives frequent problems. Comfortable inside and silent cabin features of Spark get nullified as one has to drive with windows rolled down during midday, when the AC is as good as non existent. I pressed GM workshop (Regent Automobiles, Mathura Road) to fix various glitches (headlight bulb fusing, AC not working, central clock getting reset frequently), but was politely reminded that I was expecting too much from their lowest end car. Before buying this car, please give me a mail, and I'll explain my horrible experience in detail to anyone willing to hear. I've spent 4 Lakhs of my hard earned cash on Spark LT model, and there are simply no buyers at even 3 lakhs, just 5 months after the purchase. read more

UNSATISFACTORY PERFORMANCE OF SPARK
I AM USING SPARK LS ITS PERFORMANCE AND COMFORT ON ROUGH ROADS IS VERY POOR.ITS SERVICE BACKUP IS ALSO NOT SATISFACTROY.UNEXPERIENCED TECHNICAL STAFF AT THE SERVICE STATION. read more

Chevy Spark Quite decent !!!!!!!!!!
Hello friends, I have gone through the reviews which has already been written by my good friends & i found some of them too be the most shocking me myself owns a Spark LS model since last 5 months i drove it about 5000kms but hasn`t found any of the foibles my friends are talking about even i am in contact with 2 of my friends & they feel the same way i did. it has a great mileage even with Ac on.i want to clear one thing most importantly that it posses the best AC in its class. engine is silent & very smooth. there is no feeling of vibration in the steering even on the bumpy drives. it is offereing most of the features which u can only be able to take in above 4lacs vehicle. we r very much satisfied with the quality of spark which it is providing. 63ps at 5500 rpm what more with 14.7kmpl in city average great AC a decent looking car.... i think so i think that most of you are fully aware of the fact that GM is the world no.1 company in automobiles as far as serive is concerned once the car has been sold u have to go thru the miffs of the dealer. but still i will strongly recomend u spark if u planning for a great valued car i.e abot3-4lacs. A great car & i will also recomend to those people who r giving negative reviews that guys u r having a defected piece or u r talking about some other car....... read more

SPARK LPG Problems
GM India has really done a lot to produce eco-friendly cars like SPARK LPG. AVEO& BEAT with LPG version may come next year.Took a SPARK LPG version more than an year back in Kolkata. But unfortunatley the SPARK LPG version has some REAL PROBLEMS with the LPG Factory fitted KIT. This has been done by a third party which GM India knows. Almost after every 2 months it starts giving problems with the LPG Filter. It gets choked and the car stops in the midway when it tries to change automatically to LPG Mode. In petrol mode it runs fine The workshop experts hv also got frustated with it. Hope GM India helps in Changing the LPG Kits. read more

Fuel-eating Demon Car
i have actually made a huge mistake by buying this car spark. though their dealers would fight over the point that it has an excellent average, do not expect anything beyond 10. If you want to buy something economical, this car wd fall the most heavily on your pockets. You will frequent your visits to the petrol stations, coz this car needs fuel every now & then. also the indicators are faulty. they dnt stop automatically. maruti would be a far better choice than this car. read more

To the reviewers I purchased a Chevrolet Spark – LT model TN 21 AX 1770 (Chassil – MA6MF481P7HM12869) on 28. 12. 2007 from TVS Sundaram Motors, Chennai. I undertook the services as and when instructed. On 5.6.2009 I left my car for servicing at TVS Sundaram Motors, Chennai. The service people told that free service period is already over and further service is chargeable. This was never mentioned or informed earlier. Having come from Chengalpattu (56 km away from Chennai) for usual free service (3 years free service as announced in the papers and informed by the company at the time of purchase) and as I was not prepared for pay service cost, I undertook mending some minor repairs on wiper and central locking system of my car on payment. Later, I booked for service of my car at Sundaram Motors, Chennai on 24.6.2009. But before that, on 23.6.2006, when I started the car from the portico of my house to leave my daughter to school, suddenly there was an explosion from engine compartment and within no time the engine compartment was engulfed with flames. I was trapped inside the car and in a minute I realized the situation and somehow managed to come out of the car. On hearing huge explosive sound and screaming of my family members, neighbors rushed to my house and helped to put off the flame for 15 minutes. Fire service men were informed, who rushed immediately and finally all together put off the fire completely. Heavy smoke suffocated everybody and we managed to avoid fire entering into house premises. I was shocked heavily to learn that the entire car engine compartment was completely charred. I suffered from burning of my fingers. Physical injury is less but the mental agony is heavy. A police complaint was lodged with the local Police Station and District Fire Office Personnel also visited the burnt car. After the advice of M/s Sundaram Motors, the car was towed to Chennai .This car was purchased just one and half years back and driven for around 7500 kms. After the evaluation of the car, M/s Sundaram Motors, Chennai informed the repair cost would be around Rs. 4.56 lakhs and advised me go for total loss as the insured valve of the car is Rs. 2.80 lakhs. They also informed the cause of explosion and fire was because of short circuit due to rat bite. I would like to be clarified that even if it is due to any short circuit, there should be some fuse control in the engine that should have halted the engine from explosion and burning. No car of any reputed brand has been reported to be exploded anywhere in the world. If it is proved that the cause of explosion for my car was due to some short circuit, then short circuit may occur to any Chevrolet car at any time which may lead to explosion and using of Chevrolet cars would be a great danger to public and as well as to owners and till date no such fire accident was reported so far apart from this one. In these circumstances, I approached M/s General Motors and M/s Sundaram Motors, Chennai and requested to help me to overcome my financial difficulties/commitments towards this happenings. I already spent around Rs. 10000/ towards the inspection of officials and also towards the towing of the car from Chengalpattu to M/s Sundaram Motors. Apart from this, M/s Sundaram Motors informed me to pay the demurrage charges if the process of claiming the insurance amount go beyond 31st of July, 2009 and also informing to pay the estimate cost for the damaged car (3% of the car valve). These things are pushing me to worry about the happenings. I personally visited M/s General Motors and M/s Sundaram Motors and requested them give maximum concession when I purchase a new car. But both Sundaram Motors as well as GM motors, Chennai did not consider my request. At present I do not know how to proceed further in this matter and would like to know the views of the Chevrolters. Chevrolet Cars in India- A Concern
Hi All, I am really overwhelmed with the plans of GM in India. Still its suprising to see that even with their latest offerings like free maintainance for 3 yrs/45K kms also; why we dont find Chevy cars on Indian roads ? (Like the Hyundai or Maruti's latest model). Secondly, what about the service cost / labour charges towards repair after three years? The GM officials require to announce (or atleast reassure)that too if they compete with the 25 yrs old Maruti Suzuki(since the basic ideology of Indians is that Maruti has widest service /spare parts network in India with easy availbility and the vehicle can be repaired at any time/place/situation. Even by a road side mechanic). I really admire the quality work of Chevy veicles as compared to Maruti/Hyundai and ALWAYS WISH that they should maintain the same. This note has been written just for the apprehension which forced me to buy a Maruti brand vehicle though I liked the Chevy vehicle due to above reasons. Regards, Jeetendra read more

Chevrolet Spark - Surprisingly Big
I have purchased a new Chevrolet Spark LS last month (July 2009). It’s a car looks very small from outside and surprisingly big in interior space, especially leg room for both front and rear seat passengers. Seats are very much comfortable for average sized adults and the quality of the seat fabric feels good. Although the steering wheel in the area of looks, grip and feel, the center console, dashboard and the a pillar contribute to a feel of a big car for the passengers. The centrally mounted instrument panel is very comfortable and does not makes any discomfort for me. It also has a large boot space comparable to all cars in this segment. I am glad to own car like Chevrolet Spark. Its cosy and very safe car to drive within city roads. read more
