While the Sail U-VA hatch competes with the Maruti Swift, naturally the sedan version will be pegged against the Swift Dzire, Toyota Etios, Nissan Sunny and the others in this segment. The Sail sedan is important as the Aveo has not managed to meet sales expectations despite being a good car. The current mid-size segment is bursting with capable sedans, plus another big launch is coming in the form of the Honda Amaze, so the Sail sedan has to be a capable and talented sedan if it has any chance of competing and winning against the above mentioned cars. The Sail sedan looks like the hatch up until when you see the back which is just like the practise other manufacturers also follow. The Sail U-VA hatch is a handsome looking small car with pleasant detailing and that same styling philosophy continues onto the Sail Sedan. The Sail has a dual-port grille and looks handsome but it’s not futuristic looking, rather a safe design but something that will appeal to all. As you can see from the pictures the Indian version has a strong dose of chrome to make it more up-market and it will work as we love chrome! The Sail sedan just like the hatch features the gold Chevrolet emblem showcased in the middle. Three sidelines provide the car a three-dimensional look. Step inside and the Sail sedan has virtually identical interiors to the Sail hatch. Which means that it has the same conservatively designed but practical cabin that will appeal to the Indian car buyer.

Like the Sail U-VA it has a spacious cabin and getting in and out is easy. The rear seat has lots of legroom and headroom plus the bootspace is also pretty good. Feature list is decent and you have features like Bluetooth phone pairing and music streaming. When it comes to storage the Sail sedan has lots of spaces to put all your stuff like in the rear centre armrest. The Sail sedan thus scores on practicality and space. As in the hatchback version there are two engines on offer and both motors are impressive. The one which is expected to the hot seller is the diesel. The 1.3l SMARTECH turbo-charged diesel engine is the now famous Fiat sourced 1.3-litre Multi-jet unit. The diesel develops a healthy 77 bhp at 4000rpm, it’s smooth and has good low-end grunt. The model has been tuned and changed to suit the Indian market which will definitely appeal to the customers. The 1.2l SMARTECH petrol engine makes 85 bhp of power and is a smooth unit though as we have experienced the petrol is best enjoyed when pushed hard. Overall we prefer the diesel for its better power delivery at low speeds and of course better mileage. The Sail sedan has a five-speed manual gearbox. The diesel Chevrolet Sail sedan delivers a very good ARAI mileage of 22.1 kmpl which is expected as this diesel engine is famous for its performance and economy. Thus for the economy conscious the diesel is the one that matters. But that is not in any way saying that the petrol is bad as it delivers a really good figure of 18.2 kmpl (ARAI). The Sail sedan also has a excellent ride. The Sail Sedan is a good package and is priced at Rs 4.99 lakh- 6.41 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi) for the petrol and Rs 6.29-7.51 lakh for the diesel. Sail Sedan Airbags

The Sail sedan has very stable handling characteristics and the steering though light feels direct enough. The Sail is well equipped on the safety front too. The Chevrolet SAIL is engineered with occupant safety at the forefront. Its unique ‘Safe Cage’ structure is designed to disperse collision impact. Active Safety features such as Speed sensitive Auto Door Locks, Anti-lock Brake System (ABS) and Electronic Brake Force Distribution (EBD) along with Passive Safety features such as Airbags, Seat Belts with Pre-tensioner, Crumple Zones, Collapsible Steering System & Side Impact Beams in the doors make it one of the safest cars in the class.

What we like
Easy to drive in city and well equipped safety wise
What we don't like
Light steering and not as fun as rival

The Chevrolet Sail sedan has Independent, McPherson strut front suspension and Non-independent, torsion beam rear suspension. The ride of the Sail sedan is brilliant and it tackles ptholes with ease. The car smoothens out the bad roads and is one of the best riding cars in its class for sure.

Noise while Driving
Posted on 17 Nov 13 at 10:45 am

Pros Great Looks,Comfort,

Cons Average Interiors,Average Fuel Efficiency, cheap plastic interiors- extremely noisy (defect in manufacturing)

Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) It is really shocking and hurting ,when you take a new car and it starts making noise on the very second day of its purchase. I took Sail -1.2LT on 10th nov 2013 and on 12th nov 2013 i could feel that the dashboard is making nloise and from then onward the same noise has been continously increasing . Inspite of reading similar reviews from various customers in the past i took this car (only because of the promise given to me from the Representative - Praveen Jha- Safdaurgang enclave branch) The same noise , i could also see in the test car that they have - but based on various promises and assurances i decided to take the top model ,but it has beecome a pain now ,as these representatives want me to go and visit the workshop in the very first week. Never expected such bad after sale service , that no one is even coordianting this issue and getting my problem resolved I would request all user ,not to prefer sail - all variants(1.,1.3 petrol diesel ,all) -As all the cars have similar disturbing dashboard noise - due to cheap plastic interior. Please refrain - all of you. The Dashborad Final Words Please avoid- strictly Areas of improvement After Sale services - No call was given for any feedback (its been one complete week ) Thanks Kaushik 9911031369

good car value for money
Posted on 20 Sep 13 at 10:57 am

Pros Great Looks,Great Interiors,Comfort, good strong & sturdy car

Cons Average Performance, should get better milage

a very good car at a good price , u get all the features at a very comfortable price , good value for money, it is a strong and sturdy car and also can be used a little roughly and it takes it well. pick up of it is excellent, but a little low on milage , but for a big car in petrol it is going to eat up the fuel. i even move at 160 kms on the mumbai pune expressway and it handles beautifully. i really love the vechicle and enjoy driving it

Pros Great Looks,Great Interiors,Comfort,Aerodynamic look, boot space, leg space, arm rest in the middle of back passenger seat.

Cons Average Performance,Average Fuel Efficiency,

It is a very stylist sedan with more than sufficient boot & leg space. The mid arm-rest in the back passenger seat gives more comfort. The manufacturer has put their innovative idea to have luggage space beneath the back seat. But, manufacturer should devote their effort to reduce the engine sound and more fuel efficiency, at least as per the claim. Now, in the early products ie., during Mar, April the Dealer are calling back the vehicle for replacing the Hub, which encountered with some defect. Provision of Rear window wiper would give more visibility especially during rainy season.
